I once heard a hairdresser say “I’m a beautician, not a magician,” and I cried laughing.  Well, let me intoduce you to all-star beautician {and nearly magician}, Chelsey!  I love Chelsey B Hair & Makeup.  Miss Chelsey is uh-mazing and a sweetheart!  I say she’s a magician because she did my makeup {& trimmed my bangs} for a recent photo session I had with Alice Hu!  I love Chelsey’s clean and not too fussy way.  She has such a wonderful sense of style, and working with her I have noticed that she not only takes pride in her work, but she has a sincere interest in making each of her clients’ true beauty radiate.  If she told me she thought I should cut off all my hair & rock a pixie cut, I would do it because I trust her wholeheartedly.  I would hands-down recommend Chelsey B to anyone I know.

What is your background?  Honestly, as I was getting close to high school graduation I thought “I really don’t want to go to college!”  So… I decided on the “Easy” route… hair school.  Little did I know it was going to be one of the best decisions I would ever make.  I attended Paul Mitchell the School in 2000 – 2001 (I actually started on September 11th).  It was so much fun and I’ll never forget the awesome experiences I had there.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?  I never had one particular thing in mind.  I always thought it would be fun to be a teacher, delivery nurse, hair stylist and a princess of course…

How would you describe your style as far as doing hair & makeup?  I would have to say for makeup, pretty natural.  I’m a fan of dramatic yet natural makeup.  As for hair I would say glamorous.  I love loose curls, lots of volume and really shiny locks.

How would you describe your style as far as clothing & interior design?  Well as for interior design I’m definitely eclectic.  I’m all over the place, I like anything vintage, crisp and clean, colorful and happy.  Style wise  would say I “try” to stay with the latest trends but am definitely not right on top of them.  I like to be comfortable and stylish!

If you didn’t do hair & makeup professionally, what do you see yourself doing?  After I gave birth to my son, I realized what a cool job it would be to be a labor and delivery nurse.  The nurses are there on so many different occasions to witness one of the most exciting and major events in someone’s life.  I think it would be very satisfying and neat!

What advice would you give brides as far as selecting the perfect person to do their hair and/or makeup?  Well first off I’ll give the advise to do a hair and makeup preview.  I think it’s really important that you become friends with your stylist so on your wedding day you can be at ease.  Make sure your stylist takes time to create what you’ve imagined!

What are you hair and/or makeup pet peeves?  I absolutely hate when men have hairy necks!  I want to run up to them with my clippers and give them a quick clean-up!  Make up – I would say too much bothers me.  I don’t like heavy, cakey makeup!

If you were a … , you would be a … :

nail polish (brand & color) OPI “Charged up cherry”  I’m a fan of bright nail polish!

eye shadow MAC “All that glitters”

Chap stick Lip Smackers “Tropical punch”  Yum.

lipliner Don’t have one!

cocktail/drink Well I don’t drink alcohol so a Shirley Temple!

What is one thing in your makeup bag you could absolutely, positively not live without?  Blush.  I feel so pail and lifeless without it.  A little pink will do anyone some good!

What should every bride not forget to have on their wedding day, as far as makeup?  False eyelashes.  It will make the eyes stand out so much in photos!

Pick from the following:

Up-do / hair flowing

Glammed lips or glammed eyes

Reds / Pinks / Neutrals

Tiara / Veil

Stilettos / Ballerina Flats

What is your favorite thing about your job/profession?   Bringing out someone’s hidden beauty.  No doubt I absolutely love my job.  I love meeting new people, seeing new places, creating new looks and sharing my talents.

I overslept, and I have no more than 10 minutes to do my makeup?  What is your makeup suggestion for me going to work?  {Doing makeup in the car is not an option}  Curl  your lashes, apply mascara, blush and lipgloss.  viola.

What items should I have readily available to me on my wedding day for touch-ups?  Lip stick, lip liner, blotting powder and blush.
